I designed this site for East Coast Grill as well as built the custom ExpressionEngine (EE) Content Management System (CMS) in 2013
They had an out-dated site that was built in WordPress. They found it very difficult to customize the site to do what they needed while still looking polished and professional. I completely customized the ExpressionEngine (EE) control panel to allow them to add or edit any content without having to deal with any code making it very easy to manage and hard to mess up. ![]()
The goal was to create an easy-to-manage website that communicated the restaurant’s bold flavors and big personality. The colors and fonts were inspired by their new menus and the contrast between super-spicy BBQ and wicked fresh local raw bar in a funky Cambridge neighborhood that makes this restaurant rock.
Home: The home page features a large slideshow of great food and bar photos that are sorted randomly so you will see something different each time you visit. Under the slide show there are three columns with an automatic feed to upcoming events (2 if there are two or 1 + a blog post if there is only one event scheduled) and a third box that management can use to make any site announcements. Below the featured items are randomly sorted quotes from reviews.
Menus: To make the site more useful to the customers I built menus so that they are formatted properly always and easy for the non-technical administrators to keep up. They also have the option to publish menus for specific events.
